Research Statement
I am interested in Bayesian modeling of large-scale dynamic systems. This interest began as part of my Master's work, conducted under the supervision of Dr. Arnaud Doucet and Dr. Raphael Gottardo, and continued into my PhD with Dr. Doucet as well as Dr. Jim Zidek. Deeply related to the above is an interest in stochastic computation (Markov chain Monte Carlo, sequential Monte Carlo).
I have previously explored applications to gene expression data, structural health monitoring, and chaotic systems. Please contact me for an up to date CV, preprints, code, or other information.
I believe that research collaboration and correspondence is an invaluable part of conducting statistical research, and as such I support reproducible research. Specifically, I think as a researcher it is my job to not only communicate my ideas (i.e. through publication), but also assist other researchers in reproducing and extending my results. This not only encourages an open flow of ideas and increases productivity (despite the initial investment of producing readable code), it also helps to maintain honest and ethical research practices. I will attempt to include on my website code to reproduce the results in any published works, and I encourage others to do the same.
