Saifuddin Syed


I am a 4th year PhD student in the department of Statistics at the University of British Columbia (UBC) under the supervision of Alexandre Bouchard-Côté. Prior to this, I completed a MSc in Mathematics supervised by Dr. Edwin Perkins and a BMath from the University of Waterloo with a double major in pure and applied mathematics.

My current research is in the area of computational statistics and Monte Carlo methods. I am interested in using tools from probability, physics, and differential geometry to study and design scalable sampling algorithms to solve computational problems machine learning and Bayesian statistics.
