Congratulations to our Statistics PhD student Joe Watson, who was awarded the Student Presentation Award at the virtual International Statistical Ecology Conference (ISEC) 2020!
ISEC is a biennial meeting of researchers who bridge ecology and statistics and was hosted this year by UNSW Sydney (the University of New South Wales).
Joe presented the joint work that he and his co-supervisor Marie Auger-Méthé have been undertaking, Combining citizen science and survey data in a log-Gaussian Cox process framework to estimate the monthly space-use of Southern Resident Killer Whales.
This is work in collaboration with Fisheries and Oceans Canada and SMRU Consulting.
