Available Undergraduate Programs
The Statistics Department has several programs at the undergraduate level:
- Majors/Honours in Statistics
- Combined Major in Economics and Statistics
- Major in Mathematical Sciences
- Combined Major/Honour in Computer Science and Statistics
- Combined Honour in Mathematics and Statistics
- Co-operative Education
- Minor in Statistics.
Information on applying to a Statistics major/minor can be found on the FAQ page.
Students majoring in another area can minor in Statistics by completing 18 upper level STAT credits (MATH 302 can replace STAT 302). Information on minors can be found in the calendar.
Check here for the requirements for the other above programs.
In addition, students can complete a degree in Statistics with a minor in another area, such as Economics or Commerce, with the approval of the Dean's Office in the Faculty of Science.
There are three levels of requirements that must be satisfied. The first level of requirements applies to all students at UBC. The second level of requirements, which automatically satisfies the first level, applies to all students in the Faculty of Science.
For all our programs from 2010, CPSC 111 may be replaced by CPSC 110 and CPSC 211 may be replaced by CPSC 210.
The third level of requirements is at the Department level, and is also described in the UBC Calendar. Click here for a list of courses that have sufficient overlap that credit may be obtained for only one.
For useful information concerning admissions procedures, specialisations and degree requirements, visit the Faculty of Science section of the UBC Calendar.
Students of second year standing or higher wishing to be considered for late entry into a statistics specialisation should contact an advisor at latemajorentrants at stat dot ubc dot ca.
