We are thrilled to announce that Marie Auger-Méthé, Associate Professor in Statistics and the Institute for the Oceans and Fisheries, has been named one of the new members of the College of New Scholars, Artists, and Scientists by the Royal Society of Canada (RSC). This prestigious recognition honours the emerging generation of Canadian intellectual leadership across various disciplines.
The RSC’s announcement highlights Marie’s groundbreaking interdisciplinary research:
“Marie Auger-Méthé is a highly original interdisciplinary researcher whose work in the development and application of novel statistical methods provides impactful insights into the ecology, movement, health, and behaviour of animals. Her research advances fundamental scientific knowledge crucial for effective wildlife management and conservation policies. Her contributions offer new perspectives on how ecologically important species, particularly charismatic marine species, respond to global environmental changes.”
Marie will be officially welcomed into the RSC as a 2024 member at the RSC Celebration of Excellence and Engagement in November.
