The Department of Statistics launches an award to support graduate students taking parental leave

The Statistics Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Committee is excited to announce that the Department of Statistics is launching its first Graduate Student Parental Leave Financial Support Policy. Through this policy, the department commits to supporting graduate students taking leave of absence from their studies at UBC to care for an infant or young child.

While programs exist that financially support graduate students taking parental leave (e.g., NSERC scholarships), many students require additional financial support if they need to take parental leave. To help students in this situation, our department will now provide an award to support graduate students who take an official UBC parental leave.

Please see the policy and the application form on our website to find out more (including information on eligibility).
