We are proud of Saifuddin Syed for having received the Pierre Robillard Award from the Statistical Society of Canada (SSC). Saif won this prize for his thesis “Non-reversible parallel tempering on optimized paths”, which was supervised by Professor Alexandre Bouchard-Côté. The Pierre Robillard Award is to recognize the best PhD thesis defended at a Canadian university in a given year and written in the fields covered by The Canadian Journal of Statistics.
Saif defended his thesis last year. Currently, he is a Florence Nightingale Fellow in computational statistics and machine learning at the University of Oxford's Department of Statistics.
