Announcements

(Nov 20) I added solution to the MVT problems and by popular demand, I also included solutions to the L’Hopital’s rule problems from class.
(Nov 14) I added some extra challenging problems on chain rule and mean value theorem.
(Oct 11) Proofs for the intermediate and extreme value theorem are posted.
(Oct 5) I put up solutions to the series problems we worked on in class last Friday.
(Sept 26) Some extra problems on series have been posted.
(Sept 21) I have posted some true/false problems for you to look at along with a note on the triangle inequality.
(Sept 10) Hi all! The website is up and running, and first assignment is already up!

Piazza

Piazza is a discussion board that everyone in the class is expected to join. It is a good place to ask/answer questions that you or your classmates have regarding the course/assignments. To join search “Vantage Mathematics“ and follow the instructions. We will be monitoring it often so please be respectful to your classmates. I would recommend primarily posting questions here and reserve my email for more personal questions. This way we can avoid repeat questions. If you are having issues signing onto piazza, email either Fok or I and we will have it sorted out.

Evaluation

Your grade will be determined by assignments and webwork (20%), weekly workshops quizzes (20%), a midterms (20%) and a final exam (40%). More information can be found on the course outline 1.

Exercises

Every once in a while I will be giving you some problems during the Friday lecture for you to think about over the weekend. You do not need to hand them in! They are there for you to think about new problems, and for you to see how a solution should be presented. I highly encourage everyone to attempt the problems before they look at the solution since (most) exercises are similar difficulty to problems you will see on an exam.

Notes

Sometimes I will post notes about things that I think are relevant or stuff I mention in class but don’t have time to go more in depth. You should read everything I post here.

Assignments

There will be weekly assignments posted on the main page, as well as Webwork. They will be due at the beginning of the Friday recitation.
